Leavenworth Winter Wedding

Leavenworth Winter Wedding

On a beautiful winter day, nestled in the Plain valley, near Leavenworth, Washington, Jessica and Chris were married at Mountain Springs Lodge. Their wedding was laid back, with family and friends, but these two looked absolutely incredible! Jessica was absolutely stunning and their sweet and silly personalities shined throughout the day! It was a wintery wonderland, with pops of blue sky and touches of snowfall and the entire day was just magical! I believe this day turned out to be everything they hoped for! To top off all this gorgeousness, they honeymooned in Tahiti! Wow, what a wedding to cherish for years and years to come!

Leavenworth Winter Engagement: Jessica & Chris

Jessica and Chris love Leavenworth and will be married there in March. For their engagement session, we met in Leavenworth, at Enchantment Park, near the river and although is was only in the teens and low twenties, we were blessed with some beautiful sunshine! They wanted some elegant and romantic images, along with some fun, easy going images to really capture their personalities! We came away with some stunning images of these two and an experience in freezing temperatures, they won't soon forget! Though, hopefully we can call that practice for their wedding, which will also take place during snowy conditions, at the lovely Mountain Springs Lodge!

Leavenworth Christmas Engagement Session: Mia & Loren

Leavenworth Christmas Engagement Session: Mia & Loren

In December, I photographed a couple in Leavenworth who will be getting married at Pine River Ranch, also in Leavenworth, on December 30, 2017. I met them two years ago at the grooms brother’s wedding, which we did photography and videography for. The groom, Loren and his bride, Mia, are both in the Air force and have been serving apart and looking forward to their marriage when they can be together again; currently, he is in Texas and she in California. They had the privilege to come back to their home state of Washington for Christmas, so we’d been planning for their engagement session between Christmas and New Years and praying for snow. Fortunately, we have been receiving snow already this year and Leavenworth had about 1 1/2 feet of snow for their session. Mia loves winter, snow and Christmas, so we tried to capture all that goodness during their session. They are easy going, super sweet and are pretty darn cute too! In fact, their session was so adorable, it was published on Apple Brides for Valentines day here!

Seattle Autumn Engagement: Kelsey & Kyle

Seattle Autumn Engagement: Kelsey & Kyle

I love when past bridesmaids, and groomsmen, from weddings I've done, become my new brides and grooms! Kelsey and Kyle are kind, fun loving and going to have an amazing wedding in July at Laurel Creek Manor, in Sumner, WA. For their engagement session, they wanted some iconic Seattle feel, with a bit of gorgeous fall color! Kerry Park was perfect for the iconic setting, however, it happened that the Saturday we were there, was the first dry Saturday in weeks, it was homecoming weekend for many schools nearby and their was a wedding taking place! That's Kerry Park for you though; I told them ahead of time that it is almost always crowded and we would do our best to make it look like they were the only ones around! After getting some key images with the Space needle and city in the background, we headed for a walk to find some beautiful streets with fall foliage. As it was getting cooler, Kelsey pulled out an adorable quilt with special significance to her. The quilt, made by her grandmother, belonged to her grandfather, whom had since passed away. I love that her memory of her grandfather was so important to her, that his quilt was part of her engagement session!

Leavenworth Autumn Engagement: Heather & Justin

Leavenworth Autumn Engagement: Heather & Justin

Heather and Justin are downright adorable in more ways than one! They have a gentleness and kindness that they both exude and a love for the outdoors that I really appreciate. Justin is in the Air force and Heather works for veterans health, so we share a bond, as my husband is a former Marine. They will be getting married in the spring, at Brown Family Homestead in Leavenworth, but were wanting an engagement session that showed off the gorgeous fall colors we are blessed with here in the pacific northwest. The weather and beauty did not disappoint and we captured their tender love for one another in the incredible Tumwater canyon. Heather's engagement ring is custom made and features an amazing mined stone that is unique and beautiful! Look for some gorgeous detail shots of the ring on their wedding day post!

Sleeping Lady Resort Wedding: Desiree & David

Sleeping Lady Resort Wedding: Desiree & David

Desiree & David were married in the very relaxed setting of Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort in Leavenworth, WA. Most of their family and friends were from the east coast so it was a weekend getaway, during the very popular Octoberfest. Attire and decor were very simple to not detract from the gorgeous wooded setting of this incredible local. There was laughter, celebrating and the joining of man and wife. We escaped the party for just a while to capture their love overlooking the splendid river below and mountains surrounding them. Toasts and desserts were wonderful and memorable for all.

Rio Vista Winery Wedding: Katie & Michael

Rio Vista Winery Wedding: Katie & Michael

Katie and Michael were married at Rio Vista Winery in Chelan, WA. Katie’s family owns the home just above Benson Vineyards, in Manson, and when she went looking for a wedding venue and photographer, Benson Vineyards recommended us because we’ve done weddings there before. Unfortunately, Benson Vineyards decided to stop hosting weddings so Katie had to find a different venue. She chose Rio Vista Winery, but stuck with us as her photographers/videographers because she said “so many people in the valley have highly recommended you”! (WOW, we are so humbled!) Though both her and her fiance’ are from Washington, they planned their wedding long distance from Virginia, because Michael is in the air force and was stationed there. We met over skype and immediately connected! One of the most unique things about this wedding, is perhaps the amazing location! Being located on the Columbia River, there is water and a sandy beach, beautiful landscaping including mature willow trees, a luscious vineyard, and a cute little red barn. Another aspect, is that since Michael is a pilot in the air force (and loves planes and flying), there were flight elements included in their decor and favors! Katie is gorgeous, with long red hair, and their colors of light blue and mint looked incredible with her hair and skin tone! Michael, sweetly chose his dad to be one of his groomsmen!! This wedding is also unique by the fact that we always try to get a special off camera flash photo to add one more dramatic memory to their day, which we did in front of the barn. Katie's brother owns Steelhead cider company and had brought his award winning and delicious "Peargatory" which is a vanilla infused pear hard cider! Katie also hired the Cake Chic Studio, famous for winning "Cake Wars" on the Food Network, to create her beautifully elegant cake! The day was spectacular and filled with love, hospitality, sweetness and memories to last a lifetime!

Grand Willow Wedding: Jordyn & Chris

Grand Willow Wedding: Jordyn & Chris

Jordyn and Chris were married at the lovely all inclusive Grand Willow Inn, in Mount Vernon. The bold reds and oranges were perfect for an autumn wedding and looked amazing in the simple, clean setting of the inn. Jordyn was stunning walking down the grand staircase to meet her husband. The garden with twinkling lights and some off camera flash, made for some really beautiful images. It was a heartfelt day filled with lots of emotion in the forms of love, joy and celebration!

Elegant Snohomish Wedding: Katie & Tyler

Elegant Snohomish Wedding: Katie & Tyler

Such a seriously sweet, stunning couple were joined in marriage under the sunshine in Snohomish. These cuties know how to be silly and fun, which they definitely did, but their wedding exuded elegance and romance. There were many personal touches that made this wedding just their own, but overall it showed a refined simplicity perfect for this country setting. This couple is well loved by their family and friends and have a love for one another that will stand the test of time!

Leavenworth Lodge Wedding: Carmel & Brian

Leavenworth Lodge Wedding: Carmel & Brian

Mountain Springs Lodge is one of our favorite venues for weddings because it is both beautiful and diverse in settings. The Lodge is a great setting for a country wedding and the elements of western boots, baby's breath florals and simple white, blue and tan were just right. Carmel is such a sweetheart and her U.S. Marine husband, Brian was pretty darn sweet too, especially when the tears fell as his bride walked down the isle. These two are well loved by their adorable kids and and kind family and friends and the day was most certainly a celebration of their union! The entire day was heartfelt, tender, fun and downright amazing!

Craven Country Wedding: Amber & Jacob

Craven Country Wedding: Amber & Jacob

Shades of pinks, complimented with grey and set on a farm with an adorable rustic barn and glorious, green fields of corn. The weather was perfect and peaceful and the atmosphere was lighthearted and tender. It was a day filled with love and precious moments and topped off with sun and celebration.

Lichtenwasser Lake: Weekend Family Adventure

Lichtenwasser Lake: Weekend Family Adventure

We have a secret place we overnight backpack into every year in the summer. It is an opportunity for us to disconnect from the busy wired world and get into nature fully. We are at the mercy of God in this setting, because we have no cell coverage and there is often nobody around for days. Just us, our awesome boys, or pups and lots of fresh trout! We fish, relax and make great memories. The hike up is an unmarked and we always find ourselves off the trail because of fallen trees, mud or rocks that completely block the path. There is excitement when we reach the lake and when we return to our truck, ready to sleep in our own warm beds and take a proper shower. This is a family weekend that has became a tradition for the past three years and I anticipate for many more to come.

Country Glam Wedding: Allix & Michael

Country Glam Wedding: Allix & Michael

Glamour and beauty in shades of black, white, gold and hot pink were so fun to bring to this country farm that Michael's family owns. It might not seem that "country glam" would go together, but just like city girl, Allix and country boy, Michael, it was a match made in heaven. The gold sequin dresses matched the golden, dry grasses. The black and white details made the holstein dairy cows look as if they were dressed for the occasion. The hot pink, stunning florals and accents exuded that pop of color and beauty that compliment Allix perfectly.  It was a super sweet, super fun, beautiful day filled with love, laughter and a lifetime commitment!

Red Hook Wedding: Megan & Colin

Red Hook Wedding: Megan & Colin

This wedding shouted fun and celebration through and through. Megan and Colin chose bright, bold red and it really popped among the outdoor and indoor settings at Red Hook Brewery. The suits and long dresses they chose were very classy and elegant and the groom even donned a top hat some of the day as well. Laughter, silliness and fun, along with sentimental moments made for a very joyous occasion and day to remember.

Port Gamble Wedding: Brandi & Mike

Port Gamble Wedding: Brandi & Mike

Brandi & Mike had such a lovely seaside wedding in Port Gamble surrounded by their friends and family. With elements of blue and white and pacific northwest greenery, the setting was just what they had envisioned. The sky was as blue as can be, without a cloud in the sky most of the day, and ended with beautiful light from the setting sun. These two are truly made for one another and amongst all the happenings of the day, they seemed to be in their own little world when together!

St. Edwards Engagement: Liz & Peter

St. Edwards Engagement: Liz & Peter

Liz and Peter are two of the sweetest people who love each other and J.R.R. Tolkien. They had the perfect location chosen for their engagement session because it felt like something out of their favorite books. We met at Saint Edwards Park, in Kenmore, which has this old little grotto wrapped by the woods. These two have such a kindness and gentleness toward one another and you can't help but feel the love. I knew during their session that their wedding day was going to be just as wonderful and romantic. The historic seminary building, with a patch of light in just the right spot, also made for a dramatic image to add to their collection.

Flowing Lake Wedding: Aren & Nick

Flowing Lake Wedding: Aren & Nick

Gorgeous and glamorous are just a couple words to describe how amazing Aren looked on her wedding day! Green Gates at Flowing Lake is one of my favorite venues and it was such an incredible setting for Aren & Nick's special day. It rained a bit earlier in the day, but the clouds parted slightly, just in time for the recessional. The day was filled with lots of fun, heartfelt moments and memories for a lifetime.

Puyallup Fairgrounds Wedding: Kayla & Brady

Puyallup Fairgrounds Wedding: Kayla & Brady

This country barn wedding at the Puyallup Fairgrounds was fun and lighthearted and full of laughter! It was extra special because one of my favorite past brides was a bridesmaid and it was so fun to spend another day with her. Kayla was one of the most relaxed, easy going brides ever and was determined to have fun at her wedding. I adore soft pink, and the blush bridesmaid dresses and details were just so pretty. Kayla's mom did all the floral arrangements and they looked professional and gorgeous! It was a very warm summer day, but everyone, especially Kayla, looked stunning and the venue provided many great opportunities for a variety of images. It was such a pleasure to be a part of your special day Kayla and I wish you an eternity of blessings!

Spring Hiking Adventures: Leavenworth Family Time

Spring Hiking Adventures: Leavenworth Family Time

Because my husband and I capture the majority of weddings from March through October, we seize every opportunity we can to get out as a family and enjoy the amazing state we live in! We adore hiking, camping and consider the Leavenworth area our home away from home. We spend time in this favorite place of ours all year round and never get tired of being there! After the cool and rainy months of winter, we are always anxious to get out on our first spring hike, and adding morel mushroom searching in makes everything even better! If you've never been, it becomes addicting as we forage, especially once the first mushroom is found. This year was not a huge success in quantity, but fun none the less. After a busy day of activity, the comfort of a campfire, warm food and toasted marshmallows, make that sleeping bag and tent feel simply amazing, even if there are four of us and two dogs competing for the best spot to slumber. These are memories we will all cherish for years and years to come!

Japanese Garden Engagement: Brandi & Mike

Japanese Garden Engagement: Brandi & Mike

Thankfully, one of my sweet brides referred another newly engaged couple my way and they were ready to get planning right away. Brandi and Mike are amazingly kind to one another and truly a perfect match. Because of Mike's asian heritage, they decided they wanted to celebrate their engagement at the lovely Japanese Garden, in Seattle. The foliage was so colorful and the weather cooperated to allow for so many beautiful locations to capture their love! They are easygoing and adorably head over heels for each other, which made the session an absolute breeze! It is so rewarding to work with couples who do not have a lot of experience in front of the camera, but are able to be themselves and the end results are images and memories they love!
